Islamic Banking How Far Have We Gone s far as the development in Islamic banking is concerned, the recent decade has witnessed dramatic changes. Faced with serious challenges from the well-established conventional banking system, the Islamic banking system has come up with new modes of finance. Muslim academicians are comfortable about examining the system more critically now than a decade back. In order to keep those interested in the development of this unique financial institution which is facing so many challenges from the progressive thinkers of diverse faiths, I consider it a great privilege to edit this volume focusing on the achievements as well as some limitations of this institution judged by the shariCah principles. I believe the learned readers would appreciate the fact that despite all these minor limitations, the message contained in this volume is quite clear and can be used as a source of further research and thoughts by students, scholars and practitioners.
