Multimedia system could be defined as the combination of
computer hardware and software designed so as to create, store
and disseminate multimedia content. Multimedia techniques
enable users to record, play, display or access information from
different sources at the same time. This book provides the basis
and fundamental procedures needed for the processing devices to
implement multimedia techniques. Readers of this book would
acquire in-depth knowledge of multimedia components and its

AKRAM M. ZEKI (Ph.D), a widely published academic from
Kulliyyah Of Information and Communication Technology,
International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), is a specialist
in Multimedia Technologies. His research interests include
Information Security, Image Processing, Signal Processing,
Watermarking and Internet Applications. Amongst Dr. Akram•s
publications are five books, 20 journal articles, 30 book chapters
and numerous conference papers. Besides supervising
postgraduates students, he is currently heading a number of
research projects at his university.
