The book is the collection of articles relating to some social and Islamic issues. In social issues it highlights rural-urban linkage and continuity of Malayness in urban area, safety culture among the workers of small and medium industries, socio-economic profile of squatters cyberfriendship formation among Malaysian youth and social condition of Malaysian women. These issues throw light on Malaysian situation; how primordial traits still persist and continue in the transformation of rural communities, what are the factors that contribute to the perception of workers to safety culture, the role of education in improving the socio-economic condition of squatters and social condition of Malaysian women. Jamil Farooqui is a Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the International Islamic University Malaysia. He has wide experience of operational research, teaching of gaduate and postgraduate classes, •as well as coaching and guiding research. He obtained Master’s degree in Sociology as an Alternative Course from the Institute of Social Sciences Agra in 1964. Later on. he completed a Ph. D. from Aligarh Muslim University. He also competed a High Level Training Course in “Survey Method” conducted by the Council for Social Development, New Delhi and sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Sciences Research. New Delhi. Still later he earned a Diploma in Revealed Knowledge from the International Islamic University Malaysia. Farooqui has vast variety of publication to his credit in the forms of book, monographs, write-ups, and articles in weeklies and reputed journals. His book ‘Academnic Elite and Social Structure’ has gained recognition from different quarters of the academie world. Some of his articles, panicularly *lslamic Concept of Society ‘ , Towards A Theory of Social Chaos’, Bases of Social Life in Islam and ‘The Qu •anic Basis of Sociology “became very popular. Other articles were produced in other journals and books.
